From an amusing article by Jim Caple over at espn.com, concerning baseball players and their equipment (with particular focus on Seattle’s Ichiro Suzuki):
Of course, even the great ones lose their grip occasionally. Ichiro admits — gasp! — that he threw his bat during a game in 1995 and felt such regret that he brought it to his room that night to keep it with him.
Don’t read the paragraph about Bernard Malamud’s The Natural unless you want to be spoiled for both the book and the movie.
